Abstract:
The article studies the late Soviet consumerism in the Western historiography and considers the insensitivity of the Russian academic community to the consumer society paradigm. Based on the works of Western historians, the history of Soviet consumption and its specific features is presented in her text in the pan-European context. Particular attention is paid to issues that have received coverage in the Western historiography, including the relationship between the Khrushchev and Brezhnev eras, the stratification of the Soviet society, and the characteristics of a Soviet consumer.
