Abstract:
The article discusses a new digital form of money intended for use as legal tender. The prerequisites for the digitalization of money and the concept of the Central Bank digital currency are discussed. Digital currency is considered in terms of the payment efficiency, ensuring liquidity and financial stability. It is noted that at present most countries are exploring the possibility of issuing a central bank digital currency, developing its concept or have already begun to implement pilot projects.
